Golden Triangle refers to Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, Prado Museum and Reina Sofia Museum. The museums have catapulted the city and its importance in the art work. All these three museums are extremely large and it will take lot of time to cover the entire museum. So plan your trip in advance and do not miss any of them.

Prado Museum:

It has collection of European artists and has around 10000 paintings. You get to see some interesting Dutch art works, Flemish paintings, Italian and German forms of art and lot more. If you do not have enough time, then just plan your visit only to Prado’s exclusive collection and other works of Velazquez, Goya, and El Greco and so on.

Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum

The collection of the famous Baron Hans Heinrich Thyssen and Bornemisza are preserved in the family villa called “Favourite” in Lugarno, in Switzerland. However, when there was a decision taken to sell out the works of Baron to public, many museums wanted to get hold of the paintings. Finally, Baron decided to keep all his works at Palacio de Villahermosa in Madrid. You will see paintings as early as the 14th century and be amazed by the rare collection. It has collection of much artistic movement and also includes pop artwork.

Reina Sofia Museum

This does not specifically contain the works of any particular artists, but it is still amazing to see the wonderful collection of paintings done by some of the unknown artists of Spain. One of the most popular displays is the Guernica of Picasso which depicts the Spanish civil war and its horrifying effect on human life.
